As a family-owned business, we are creating a better world for future generations by focusing on better coastal protection, growth in (renewable) energy, placing efficient and safe offshore oil and gas facilities, and optimising our maritime transport and infrastructure. We work closely, safely, and honestly with our Van Oord community, clients, and stakeholders. Our mission "Create a better world for future generations, by marine ingenuity" makes us actively committed to sustainability and the energy transition. We are an innovative partner for our clients and have been contributing to the infrastructure of tomorrow's world for over a hundred years.

An example is Palm Jumeirah, one of the three palm islands in Dubai. The palm leaves were constructed before the breakwater was completed, which involved a risk of erosion. The reclamation was therefore scheduled in such a way that the slowly-growing breakwater could still provide maximum protection during the installation of this so called Eighth Wonder of the World. As it is one of the few structures that can be seen from outer space. Another example is the Belwind Offshore Wind Farm on the Bligh Bank, around 50 kilometres from the Belgian coast. We only had 15 months for the design, engineering, procurement and installation of 56 foundations, power cables and the complete electrical infrastructure, including a substation at 25nm offshore and grid connection onshore. A time record!

Investment
Van Oord has over 40 offices worldwide and an advanced fleet that includes 77 ships and 61 special dredging and offshore installations. Several more ships are currently under construction. Our investments in innovation and equipment are part of our long-term vision, a vision aimed at lasting relationships.
